Unilever Launches Global Platform to Engage with Start-Ups

Unilever announced the launch of The Unilever Foundry, a platform that will provide a single entry-point for innovative start-ups seeking to partner with Unilever. The Unilever Foundry will enable the company's global brands to experiment with and pilot new technologies more efficiently, effectively and speedily. It will also provide start-ups and entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop and work on global projects, access mentoring from marketing professionals, and tap into a new source of funding through Unilever Ventures.

Unilever Plans Expansion at Missouri Facility

Unilever plans to expand a food processing facility in the Kansas City area with the help of some incentives from Missouri. Gov. Unilever plans a $99 million investment that is expected to create about 70 new full-time jobs at its Independence facility. The plant currently processes wet foods, such as salad dressing. Over the next two years, it will be converted to a dry mix facility for things such as soups, sauces and gravies.

Unilever to Lay Off 280 in Closing of Ontario Plant

A Unilever plant in Brampton, Ont., will close and its production capability shipped to the United States. Most production is expected to finish by the end of next year with the final plant closure expected in March 2016. Production of the dry mixes from the Bramalea plant under the Knorr and Lipton brand names will move to Unilever's plant in Independence, Mo. The decision to close the plant will affect about 280 salaried and hourly employees.
