Donald D. Snyder was appointed to University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV's) acting president by the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents, filling a role that will be vacated when outgoing president Neal Smatresk assumes his new position at the University of North Texas. Snyder will officially take over as acting UNLV president on February 1 and will serve until the successful completion of a national search for a permanent president, which is expected to begin immediately. Snyder, a longtime Las Vegas business leader, was dean of the UNLV Harrah Hotel College from 2010 to 2013 and is currently UNLVs executive dean for strategic development.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas announced the appointment of Tina Kunzer-Murphy as interim athletic director effective July 1, 2013. Tina Kunzer-Murphy has agreed to step into the role of interim athletic director on the heels of Jim Livengoods retirement. Kunzer-Murphy has been serving as director of alumni sponsorship and development for the UNLV Alumni Relations department since January 2013. Previously Kunzer-Murphy spent twelve years as the executive director of the Las Vegas Bowl for ESPN Regional Television Inc. Prior to her work with the Las Vegas Bowl, she was the general manager for the ESPN Regional Institution Project for UNLVs department of intercollegiate athletics (2000-2005).
