KAR Auction Services, Inc. is reportedly in talks with private equity firms about a potential leveraged buyout, two people familiar with the matter said. The sale of KAR is reportedly valued at $4 billion. Kelso & Company, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., ValueAct Capital, LLC and Parthenon Capital Partners, which collectively own about 78% stake in KAR, have spoken to buyout firms to discuss a sale, the people said. 4-Traders reported that Kelso declined to comment while representatives of KAR, Goldman Sachs, ValueAct and Parthenon did not respond to a request for comment. The shares of KAR jumped more than 6% and were trading at $17.91 on August 22, 2012.
