Space Foundation Key Developments

Space Foundation Names Shelli Brunswick as Chief Operating Officer, Effective January 12, 2014

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Shelli Brunswick has been named chief operating officer of the Space Foundation, effective January 12, 2014. Brunswick joins the Space Foundation after a career in acquisition and program management for Space Command. For the last five years, she worked in the Air Force Legislative Liaison office in the Pentagon. Brunswick will serve as a corporate officer and be responsible for Space Foundation operations, facilities, processes and personnel.

Space Foundation Announces Promotions and Organizational Changes

Space Foundation announced that number of organizational changes will take place in the coming weeks, including a retirement, promotions and expansion of responsibilities. Retiring after 27 years with the Space Foundation is President Charles P. "Chuck" Zimkas, Jr. His retirement is effective July 1, 2013. Vice President, Operations Art Ratkewicz will assume many of the duties performed by Zimkas. Vice President, Marketing & Communications Janet P. Stevens, who has been with the Space Foundation since 2009, will be leaving the organization, effective May 10, 2013. Kevin C. Cook has been named Vice President, Marketing & Communications, effective immediately. Formerly Director, Space Awareness Programs, Cook has led the Space Foundation's Space Technology Hall of Fame and Space Certification programs. Other promotions and changes in responsibility, effective May 1, 2013, include: Carol Hively, from Manager, Communications to Director, Public Relations & Team Communications; Iain B. Probert from Vice President, Education to Vice President, Education & Discovery, heading education programs and the Space Foundation Discovery Center, open to the public at its world headquarters in Colorado Springs; Rhonda Truett, from National Sales Manager to Director, Global Sales & Certification; and Kathleen Vinson, from Vice President, Human Resources to Vice President, Human Resources & Administration.

Space Foundation Promotes Art Ratkewicz to Vice President-Operations

Space Foundation has promoted Art Ratkewicz to vice president-operations from his previous position as senior director- operations. His new responsibilities include facilities administration for all Space Foundation locations, including its world headquarters and Space Foundation Visitors Center in Colorado Springs. He also oversees customer service, information technology systems and support and all logistical aspects of Space Foundation events, including the annual National Space Symposium. Ratkewicz joined the Space Foundation in 2010 as manager of cyber initiatives. His previous experience included project management with Booz Allen Hamilton and a number of senior-level intelligence and information operations positions with the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Strategic Command, U.S. Forces Korea and Air Force Space Command.
