A Tokyo court ordered Livedoor Co. Ltd. and its founder to pay damages for stock losses to former shareholders who say they had been duped into making dubious investments. The court awarded damages totaling ¥1.4 billion ($15 million). Shareholders in the lawsuit say they racked up massive losses when Livedoor stock plunged. The suit is a civil case and is separate from the pending criminal trial of Horie. The Tokyo District Court found Horie, other former Livedoor executives and the company were responsible in concocting fraudulent exchanges of stock to falsify Livedoor's performance. Under Japanese law, investors can file damages lawsuits if a company or its executives are found guilty of giving false information about the company and its businesses.

Fuji Media Holdings Inc. announced that it has agreed to receive ¥31 billion in compensation to settle a dispute with LDH Corporation, previously known as Livedoor Co., over securities fraud. In March 2007, Fuji filed a lawsuit against LDH, claiming damages of about ¥37.7 billion to offset a loss caused by the sale of LDH shares.

Gutride Safier Reese LLP announced that it is investigating allegations of securities law violations by Livedoor Co. Ltd. and several of its senior officers, related to Livedoor's collapse. These alleged violations may have caused significant losses to Livedoor investors.
