Omaha World-Herald reported that Hy-Vee is adding a 3,000 square-foot convenience store to its Peony Park store in Omaha, Nebraska. The store will feature 8 fuel pumps and is expected to open late summer.

Hy-Vee Opens its New Hy-Vee Mainstreet Store

Hy-Vee opened up its new Hy-Vee Mainstreet store, a relatively smaller store - 14,000 square feet - compared to its typical 70,000 to 80,000 square-foot stores. Hy-Vee has three other Mainstreet concept stores, which are designed to accommodate customers who walk from nearby homes to shop. The new store is Hy-Vee's first Mainstreet build from the ground up, and will serve as a prototype for future stores. The new store also features a new amenity called the Mainstreet Grill, a cafe that seats up to 38 people and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hy-Vee, Inc. Plans Major Expansion of its Minnesota Operations into the Twin Cities Market

Hy-Vee, Inc. announced plans for a major expansion of its Minnesota operations into the Twin Cities market. The proposed expansion would add several new stores to the Twin Cities market per year, over the next several years. Each store opened will be approximately 90,000-square foot, with an investment of approximately $14-16 million, creating anywhere from 400-550 new jobs. Store amenities often include: Market Grill or Market Cafe with sit-down, wait-staffed service; pharmacies with drive-up windows; in-store dietitians and wellness department; floral design and shop; certified wine, beer and spirit specialists; specialty cheese and artisan bread; in-store chefs and cooking demonstration stations; and dry cleaning and postal services.
