Clarion Corporation of America announced the establishment of a Silicon Valley office to cater to the growing software and app development needs associated with its cloud-connected in-vehicle multimedia and infotainment products and services. The office will also facilitate Clarion's engineering and product marketing teams to work closer with the company's software and app developers, as well as Clarion's strategic partners including Google with which Clarion recently announced a multi-year agreement. Located in Santa Clara, California, the new Clarion office is minutes away from Apple's headquarters in Cupertino as well as Google's offices in Sunnyvale. The facility is designed to accommodate engineers from Clarion's Advanced Engineering group as well as product and marketing experts from the company's Content and Service Planning group. Clarion expects the Silicon Valley office to positively influence the company's product development efforts by promoting closer team work with its partners, foster creativity, and sharpen skills required for successfully competing in connectivity-focused markets.

Clarion Corporation of America announced the addition of WAZE to its existing array of in-vehicle apps available via Clarion's exclusive Smart Access Cloud Server. WAZE is a unique app as it leverages social media and community based activities not just to provide directions on a map, but also offer real-time information on road hazards, traffic jams, accidents and, among other things, location of gas stations en route. Connected to Facebook, the app also has the ability to allow drivers to coordinate among friends in order to arrive at a common destination. WAZE allows drivers to share information via the large touch screens on Clarion's compatible in-dash infotainment products. It incorporates graphically vivid maps and icons to alert drivers of road conditions ahead of time and provides real time traffic updates. The app is designed to be intuitive and stores users' favorite locations for future access. In addition to WAZE, other in-vehicle optimized apps available via Smart Access include: TuneIn(R), Pandora(R), Vlingo(c), MotionX-GPS Drive, INRIX Traffic, Odyssey(R) and Clarion's exclusive Tweet4car, FB4car and DriveSuite4car with more to come. Clarion is continuing to work with multiple other app developers with the goal of offering several more apps designed specifically for in-vehicle use via Smart Access.
Clarion Corporation of America Introduces New Infotainment In-Vehicle Devices with Smartphone Connectivity and Access to Cloud Server, FX503 and NX603

Clarion Corporation of America announced the addition of two new innovative products to their 2013 mobile electronics line up. Both devices have been designed and developed with mobile lifestyle and connectivity in mind, offering seamless compatibility with satellite radio from SiriusXM, iPhone and Android smartphones and featuring access to Clarion's exclusive Smart Access cloud server. The NX603 is Clarion's most advanced in-dash navigation source unit model for 2013. It features built-in Bluetooth capabilities including a microphone, CD/DVD/SD/USB ports, 8GB micro SD card for map storage and a second SD card slot to access entertainment files. This model incorporates the highly acclaimed iGo Primo navigation software as part of its built-in applications and features Clarion's latest map system, ensuring users access to the most updated maps and data available at the time of purchase. The large 6.2-inch WVGA touch panel display offers an all-new highly animated GUI highlighted by variable color key illumination featuring 728 colors and offers an HDMI port for smartphone mirroring. The FX503 is Clarion's first double DIN digital media receiver. The sleek device is highlighted by a wide touchscreen display with advanced animated graphics (GUI). Its clean sleek styling offers minimal hard buttons allowing the unit to feature an expanded touch screen display for easier, more intuitive operation. Like the NX603, FX503 also offers and HDMI port for smartphone mirroring. Both the NX603 and FX503 are SiriusXM-Ready via the optional SXV200 SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit (sold separately, SiriusXM subscription required,) and capable of receiving SiriusXM's commercial-free music, premier sports talk and live events, comedy, news, exclusive talk and entertainment, and SiriusXM Latino, the most comprehensive Latin music, sports and talk programming in radio, have several input ports including a MicroSD, dual aux audio and video inputs, a rear USB port and an optional external Bluetooth microphone port. Additionally, they can both control iPod and iPhone directly via USB. The Smart Access apps are available via the Apple AppStore or Google Play Store and include popular names such as Pandora, Tunein Radio as well as Clarion exclusive apps like FB4Car and Twit4Car. Clarion's FX503 and NX603 will be available in the second quarter of 2013 and showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. FX503's suggested retail price is at $799.99 while NX603 will be available for $999.99.
