Ericsson India Private Ltd. recently appointed Swati Rangachari as the Vice President- Communications & Corporate Affairs for Region India. Formerly in Boeing India, Rangachari brings to Ericsson a deep understanding of strategic communications and industry relations that support sustained business growth. She is part of Ericsson’s Region India Leadership Team reporting into Fredrik Jejdling, President and Region Head, Ericsson India. In her new role, Rangachari will craft and implement communications and corporate affairs strategies and outreach programs focused on customers, media, government, industry associations etc. She will also leverage the global communication framework, to enhance the organization’s overall brand perception. Rangachari comes with around 17 years of experience.

Bharti Airtel has expanded its managed services agreement with Ericsson India Private Ltd. for its India operations. Under this new five-year multi-vendor, multi technology managed services agreement Ericsson will operate, maintain and provide services across 70% of BhartiAirtel's network in India. In addition to the standard portfolio of managed services, Ericsson will also take responsibility for the Intelligent Network that manages BhartiAirtel's prepaid customer base. The 15 telecom Circles under the scope of the partnership include, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP(W), UP(E), Rajasthan, North Eastern states, Assam, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chennai and Kerala. Ericsson will also ensure effective management of operational expenditure and maximize efficiencies of scale whilst undertaking to improve the overall quality of the network in these Circles. The full suite of managed services will be rendered through a state of the art GlobalNetworkOperationCenter and field operation activities spread throughout the country. The evolved managed services now incorporate the cutting-edge tools that Ericsson gained from its recent acquisitions of Optimi and Telcordia. As BhartiAirtel operates in a multi-vendor environment, Ericsson will be required to manage equipment produced by other vendors, as well as its own and to draw on the experience, expertise and synergies it has gained from other similar engagements.

Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd. (SSTL) has extended its current managed services contract with Ericsson India Private Ltd. in India. The extension adds four new circles of CDMA wireless networks and a new three-year contract including the management of fiber transport and wireline networks in Rajasthan. Under the three-year agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for network optimization, operations and maintenance including field operations and 24/7 network service assurance, and fulfillment network service provisioning, customer problem management and spare parts management. Channeling the servicing of the multi-vendor networks to Ericsson will lead to efficiencies and improved response time for SSTL and better service for its customers.
