KFC announced unaudited financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 6, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $771 million against $704 million a year ago. Operating profit of $169 million against $147 million a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported total revenues of $2,189 million against $2,066 million a year ago. Operating profit of $487 million against $457 million a year ago. For the year of 2014, the company expects continued solid sales and profit growth at KFC division, outside of China, led by strong international performance and improving U.S. results.

KFC Announces 77 Restaurants are in Jeopardy Because of Real Estate Dispute

KFC Corp. is in a dispute with an affiliate of Black Equities Group. The company claims the disagreement is putting the restaurants "in jeopardy." In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Louisville, KFC asked for a restraining order preventing SBKFC Holdings from declaring KFC in default of a lease. KFC pays SBKFC Holdings rent of more than $9.3 million a year for the properties, which span 20 states, according to court documents. Louisville KFC locations covered by the lease include the restaurants at 5012 S. Third St. and 1911 W. Broadway.

KFC Plans to Expand New Restaurant

KFC announced that it plans to expand. In particular, its subsidiary Fast Foods AKK has opened a new KFC restaurant in Vilnius.
