Universal Studios and StudioCanal Resolve Legal Spat
Jan 8 14
NBCUniversal Media LLC's Universal Studios and StudioCanal submitted documents to dismiss with prejudice a lawsuit regarding 44 films they made in partnership under Working Title Films. The settlement was reached after both firms exchanged additional audit information and met in mediation. StudioCanal's 2013 suit alleged that Universal Studios underreported income from several films the two companies made, failed to report ancillary revenue, double-charged for producing fees and deducted unsubstantiated expenses. Universal countered that the firm had actually been overpaid on four movies.
