Northwest Community Healthcare Corp. (NCH) has dropped its pursuit of a merger partner. Northwest in January 2013 said it had started an “information-gathering” process toward a possible merger with a larger health system. Stephen Scogna, the newly named Chief Executive Officer of the Northwest Community said in a memo to its medical staff that the hospital board voted on April 29, 2013 against any partnership. The board decided that “NCH is best equipped to meet the future needs of our community by having the flexibility to be innovative and nimble in the current healthcare environment,” Stephen Scogna said. One system that had participated in Northwest's request-for-proposal process was Advocate Health Care, Inc.
Northwest Community Healthcare Corp. (NCH) is looking for another health care partner for a possible merger or other alliance. Jacqueline Speckin, NCH spokeswoman said that the NCH Board will continue to talk with health care organizations to explore the full range of relationship and alliance possibilities. Speckin said, "The board has made no decision to act and will only do so if presented with possibilities that would allow NCH to better meet the needs of our patients, doctors, employees and communities in the future." Speckin declined to name any health care organizations involved in the process. Kelly Jo Golson, a spokeswoman for one rumored suitor, Advocate Health Care, Inc. declined to comment.
