Capital Blue Cross Key Developments

Capital Blue Cross, Change Healthcare First to Market with Health Insurance Marketplace Video Series

Change Healthcare(R) is partnering with leading health insurer Capital BlueCross to help consumers prepare for the launch of health insurance marketplaces (aka exchanges) through a series of online, educational videos. The new video series is a part of Change Healthcare's Healthcare University solution, which uses educational videos, quizzes, games and game mechanics to teach consumers the basics of healthcare and how to make value-based decisions. Each health insurance marketplace video helps prepare consumers to understand and shop on the new marketplaces. Change Healthcare selected Capital BlueCross to help develop the content, and the health plan is first to market with the new Health Insurance Marketplace subject.

Capital Blue Cross Partners with Change Healthcare to Address Costs Through New Consumer Engagement, Cost Transparency Tools

Change Healthcare Corporation announced that it is partnering with Capital Blue Cross to help address the rising costs of health care. In mid-2013, the companies are rolling out Transparency Messenger(TM), a solution designed to help Capital BlueCross members make informed health care purchases based on value and quality of care at the best cost. The tool will be provided to Capital BlueCross members at no cost. One of the innovative features of Transparency Messenger is Change Healthcare's Ways to Save Alerts(TM). This tool proactively notifies customers of opportunities to save on their most common and recurring health care services and prescriptions, such as chiropractic care, physical therapy and maintenance medications.

Capital Blue Cross Upgrades its Provider Tool for Specific Health Needs

Looking for a doctor or hospital with specific qualifications is easier now for Capital Blue Cross customers to recent upgrades to the company's popular Find a Provider tool. The Find a Provider tool is part of Capital BlueCross' focus on meeting the health and financial needs of its customers through products, services and on-line tools that can be tailored to each individual. The most noticeable change to Find a Provider is that it allows customers to search for any provider directly from the Capital BlueCross website, regardless of whether they are local or national. Previously, customers would need to link to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association website for information on providers outside of the Capital BlueCross 21-county region of central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. Other improved features of this tool include the ability to search by provider name or provider specialty/type; an integrated capability to rate your doctor and read reviews by others; and a way to look up treatment costs for hundreds of common elective procedures. In addition to the provider search capabilities, Capital BlueCross has also enhanced the provider profiles allowing customers to check bios, patient reviews, quality ratings, hospital affiliations, office details and specialties/certifications. The tool can be viewed and used through an array of smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktops.
