Square, Inc. announced that it will open a permanent office in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. The office will be located at 305 King Street in downtown Kitchener and will open in Spring 2014. The new office will allow Square to expand its Canadian team to more than 30 employees.

Square Denies Discussions With Google

Roelof Botha, Board Member of Square, Inc. denied acquisition talks with Google Inc. (NasdaqGS:GOOGL). “There is a lot of misinformation about Square right now, there were no discussions about a sale,” Roelof Botha said.

Square Reportedly In Talks With Google, Apple For Possible Sale

Square, Inc. could be looking for a deep-pocketed buyer and has reportedly had meetings with a couple of major tech companies. Google Inc. (NasdaqGS:GOOGL) discussed the possibility of acquiring Square earlier this year, which followed a meeting by the two companies in 2012, according to two people familiar with the matter. It is uncertain if talks are continuing currently. Other companies like Apple Inc. (NasdaqGS:AAPL) and PayPal, Inc. have also been reportedly in talks with Square, but according to sources those meetings never developed into serious talks.
