Promoters And Investors Seek To Sell Aircel

According to sources, multiple investors have envisaged interest in buying stake in Aircel Limited. The prospective investors include Idea Cellular Ltd. (BSE:532822), Telenor ASA (OB:TEL), AT&T, Inc. (NYSE:T) and MTN Group Limited (JSE:MTN). The promoters and investors of Aircel, including Maxis Communications Berhad, are looking to exit Aircel and have invited request for quotations for stake sale, sources told CNBC-TV18. Idea Cellular and Telenor have already initiated the due diligence process, sources said. Aircel promoters have set a June 2014 deadline for quotation. Though valuation figures are still being worked on, sources said it could be a significantly large deal in the range of over INR 200 billion. Idea and AT&T refused a comment. Others players were unavailable.

Maxis Communications Berhad is reportedly in talks with Idea Cellular Ltd. (BSE:532822) to sell its majority stake in Aircel Limited, Sources told CNBC-TV18. Sources say talks are going on to acquire user base, assets and employees of Maxis.
Maxis Communications Berhad Announces Management Changes

Maxis has announced that Johan Dennelind, who was expected to take up the role as chief executive officer from 1 July, 2013 will not take the position. The change is due to Dennelind's recent family circumstances which have made it necessary for him to reside closer to family in Sweden. Maxis has appointed CFO Nasution Mohammed as joint chief operating officer from June 1, 2013 and with current joint COO Suren J. Amarasekera, he will provide overall leadership to the company and be responsible for its performance. The joint chief operating officers will report to the chairman and Nasution will continue to oversee the finance function. Mark Dioguardi, whose contract expires on June 30, 2013 will relinquish his position as joint chief operating officer.
