Shine Denies Talks On Playmaker Acquisition

Shine Limited is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire Playmaker Media in a bid to bolster its drama slate. However, Shine Australia’s Chief Executive Officer and international President of Shine Network, Mark Fennessy told The Australian Financial Review that everybody talks but there were no immediate plans for an acquisition of Playmaker Media. "We've got a lot of respect for Playmaker - they're doing tremendous stuff but there is not an acquisition on our radar in the immediate, short-term. The group doesn't really have an appetite for growing the business by acquisition. It's about how you grow strategically and how you partner up with new players. If it makes sense in regards to acquisitions, we'll look at it, but right now it's a bit early in our lifecycle. I wouldn't say we're light on in drama. The company [in Australia] is only three years old,” Fennessy said.
