Grupo Financiero Banamex reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 2013. For the quarter, the company reported net profits of MXN 4.65 billion, which is 22.6% up on the same period in 2012, mostly because financial revenues increased year-on-year by 1.5%, reaching MXN 14.96 billion, linked to higher volume business. Revenues from intermediation soared year-on-year by 256.1% in January-March 2013, reaching MXN 2.24 billion.

The Inter-American Development Bank has approved a $150 million partial credit guarantee facility with a unit of Grupo Financiero Banamex, S.A. de C.V. that can back renewable projects in Mexico. Under the facility, sponsors can seek a partial credit guarantee on their bond issuances for either corporate or project finance. Solar distributed generation, for example, would qualify; the facility, however, is not limited to generation projects or companies. The IDB facility will provide partial credit guarantees for local and international debt issuances of Mexican entities arranged by Banamex unit Acciones y Valores Banamex. Banamex will have access to the partial credit guarantee facility for three years, with an option to extend it for another three years. As many as nine issuers may benefit from the IDB facility. The identity of potential issuers could not be learned. The IDB has ramped up efforts to propel renewables projects in Latin America. It plans to approve more than $700 million in financing for projects in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2012.

Grupo Financiero Banamex, S.A. de C.V. reported earnings results for the fourth quarter full year of 2011. The company reported net profit for the fourth quarter of 2011 were MXN 4,289 million, 16% lower than during the fourth quarter of 2010 and 22% higher than the third quarter of 2011.
