Roku Introduces HDMI Streaming Stick to Bring Online Content to TVs

Roku announced that it has introduced a new HDMI Streaming Stick to bring online content to TVs. The device comes with a remote control, as well as a mobile app to search for and select programming on the TV and cast content from the mobile device to the TV. It will add additional mobile features later, such as the ability to cast content from a computer to the TV. Once plugged in, the Roku Streaming Stick lets consumers stream from more than 1,200 channels (more than 750 channels in Canada, the UK and Ireland) of movies, TV episodes, music, news, sports, kids' shows and free programming, in upto 1080p HD video. Recently launched channels include Conde Nast Entertainment, Show time Anytime, Watch ESPN,Watch Disney Channel and YouTube. The new stick has a suggested retail price of USD 49.99 in the US, CAD 59.99 in Canada and GBP 49.99 in the UK and Ireland. It is available for pre-order from Amazon, Best Buy, Currys, LondonDrug, Staples, Target and Walmart and will ship to consumers and arrive in retail stores in April 2014.
