GTECH Corporation announced that it has signed a one-year contract extension to continue providing lottery technology and ongoing services to the Arizona Lottery through August 30, 2016. Over the extension period, GTECH will continue providing the operation and maintenance of the Arizona Lottery's central system and communications network, servicing 3,650 point-of-sale devices at 2,800 retailers across the state. GTECH will continue to operate from a primary data center in Phoenix, providing field services, hotline operations, and ongoing sales, marketing, and software support. Under separate contracts, GTECH is also the provider of the Arizona Lottery's instant-ticket warehousing and distribution services, as well as a portion of the instant-ticket printing business through GTECH Printing.
GTECH Corporation has signed a three-year contract extension with the Virginia Lottery to continue providing an online/instants central system, self-service lottery products, multimedia messaging display units, as well as instant-ticket warehousing and distribution services. The extension term will run from October 28, 2014 through October 27, 2017, and is expected to generate total revenues for GTECH of approximately $65 million, commencing in the fourth quarter of 2014. The Virginia Lottery has been a valued GTECH customer since 2000 when it received its first contract to provide the Lottery with new lottery terminals. In addition to providing lottery systems, terminals, a communications network, marketing support, field services, and hotline management, GTECH will also provide instant-ticket warehousing and distribution services directly to the Lottery as part of this contract extension. GTECH currently serves as subcontractor to the existing instants warehousing/distribution vendor whose contract to provide such services to the Virginia Lottery will expire in October 2014.
GTECH Corporation announced that it has promoted Timothy Simonson to Senior Vice President of Business Development for the Americas. Reporting directly to GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel, Tim will be responsible for lottery operator and private manager opportunities in these regions. He will also be responsible for further developing business relationships with current and prospective new customers in North America and Brazil to offer opportunities across the company's entire product portfolio, lottery, gaming machines, sports betting, and interactive. Most recently he was Regional Vice President supporting GTECH's customers in the Western and Midwestern states.
