Siemens Enterprise Communications Group Partners with Digium

Digium Inc. and Siemens Enterprise Communications Group (SEN Group), a provider of enterprise communications solutions announced that the two companies have entered into a partnership agreement that will allow organizations to tightly integrate enterprise needs with the SMB flexibility of open source in one communications ecosystem. This will give organizations the benefits of Asterisk along with SEN Group's Open Communications approach and product portfolio which includes Enterasys networking, OpenScape Voice and unified communications (UC), and OpenStage Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) phones. Vestec and Digium Partner to Offer Full-Featured, Low-Priced Speech Recognition for Asterisk

Digium Inc. and Vestec announced a partnership to provide a robust, low-cost speech recognition engine for use with the open source Asterisk telephony platform. Vestec's speech engine significantly lowers the cost barrier for introducing feature-rich speech recognition with Asterisk and provides the Asterisk community with a powerful means to enhance the customer experience as well as to generate new revenue. Speech recognition technology has historically been affordable to only a small segment of the Asterisk community. Vestec's speech engine significantly broadens the market for speech recognition applications with Asterisk by offering a powerful speech solution at a cost of $99 per port, without any minimum port license purchase requirement. The speech engine is easy to install, supports industry standard grammar, provides a vocabulary size sufficient for most applications, supports all major Asterisk releases and Linux distributions and includes the first year of maintenance. A low-cost, optional annual maintenance subscription will be available after the first year. The Vestec Speech Engine is available immediately from the Digium web store at a list price of $99 per port, and will be available through Digium North American channel partners in the near future.

Digium and Skype Enable Free and Low-Cost Calling through any Asterisk-based PBX

Digium Inc. and Skype Limited announced the general availability of Skype for Asterisk. Skype for Asterisk software provides a robust and cost-effective solution for connecting Asterisk-based business phone systems to Skype. Skype for Asterisk allows businesses to access the world's largest community of people communicating over the Internet, natively encrypts all voice calls and lets companies manage their Skype user accounts via Skype's Web-based Business Control Panel. Businesses already using an Asterisk-based phone system can add Skype as another complementary form of communications by downloading Skype for Asterisk, without additional costly hardware. Skype users can benefit from the advanced call features of Asterisk, including call transfer, interactive voice response, automated call distribution, flexible call-routing and many more. Digium has been using Skype for Asterisk for the past few months while the product has been in development. The combination of Skype and Asterisk gives those companies that have relied on Skype the advanced call management capabilities of Asterisk, while Asterisk users get free calling to more than 400 million registered Skype users and low Skype rates when calling landlines and mobiles.
