Tide Water Oil Co (India) Signs Equal Joint Venture Agreement with JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp

Tide Water Oil Co (India) has signed an agreement with JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp. to form a joint venture company in India - JX Nippon TWO Lubricants India. Both companies will have equal stake in the new entity, Tide Water Oil announced in a statement on July 21. The 50-50 joint venture will sell, market, distribute and manufacture the 'Eneos' brand of lubricants in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan, apart from taking care of the Genuine Oil requirements of, mainly, the Japanese and Korean original equipment manufacturers in the automotive and industrial segments.

JX Nippon Oil & Energy to Build 100 Hydrogen Stations in Japan by Fiscal Year 2018/19

JX Nippon Oil & Energy plans to set up 100 hydrogen stations by fiscal year (FY) 2018/19 in an effort to develop the infrastructure needed for the adoption of fuel-cell vehicles (FCVs). The company plans to set up 19 such stations by the end of Fiscal Year 2014/15, up from 15 planned initially, before raising the tally to 40 by Fiscal Year 2015/16 and eventually to 100 in the following two to three years. The company plans soon to establish a dedicated subsidiary to handle procurement and station operations. The plan is to offer hydrogen at existing gasoline (petrol) filling stations as well as dedicated facilities.

JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation Plans to Build Thermal Power Plant in Western Japan

JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp. announced that it will spend around JPY 35 billion to build a thermal power plant in Okayama Prefecture, western Japan. The company will build the power plant at a refinery in Kurashiki, which is scheduled to start operations in April 2018 with a generating capacity of 110,000 kilowatts. The power plant will use heavy oil that is left behind after refining crude oil. The company aims to increase its thermal power generation to 4 million kilowatts by 2030 from the current 1.4 million kilowatts.
