For the quarter, the company reported that revenue revenue increased by 6% to $578 million and adjusted EBITDA decreased by 11% to $131 million. For the year, the company reported that revenue increased by 2% to $2,076 million in 2012, primarily driven by: Continued higher sales volume in the Middle East, South America, Asia and North America and partially offset by unfavorable foreign currency impact of $107 million due to the strengthening of the dollar against the euro. Adjusted EBITDA increased by 5% to $507 million in 2012, primarily driven: Positive contribution from higher revenue; realized overhead cost savings and lower raw material and manufacturing costs and partially offset by increased incentive compensation.

Mapei SpA has appointed SIG as its latest distributor in the UAE, driving forward the company's expansion plan in the country. The appointment is in line with Mapei's robust growth forecast in 2012 as the company expects to generate a significant increase in the volume of sales from the reseller market. SIG distributes top brands to over 750 trading locations across Europe and also in the Middle East through SIG Middle East's distribution centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE and Muscat in Oman.
