Voith GmbH Key Developments

Voith Group Reports Group Sales Results for the First Half Year Ended March 2014

Voith Group reported group sales results for the first half year ended March 2014. As of the end of March, the group sales were slightly down by 4% in comparison to the same period of the previous year to EUR 2.60 billion compared to EUR 2.72 billion a year ago. This development was essentially due to negative currency effects, which are currently also impacting other companies, totaling around EUR 120 million at Voith. Adjusted for this non-recurring negative effect, group sales were up slightly on the previous year.

Voith Wins Contract to Modernize Three Hydropower Generators in Canada

Voith GmbH has won a services contract for the modernization of three hydropower generators at the Kettle Generating Station in the province of Manitoba, Canada. The scope of supply for Voith Hydro includes the replacement of stator frames, new cores and windings as well as pole re-insulation and the installation of new coolers. Once the project is completed, each of the refurbished units will be rated at 120 MVA. The Kettle Generating Station is owned by Manitoba Hydro and, with a total of twelve units and an installed capacity of presently 1,220 MW, is the second-largest hydropower plant in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The facility was commissioned in the early 1970's and, after many years of reliable service, will now undergo gradual rehabilitation to continue production of renewable energy for further decades.
