The Western Union Company has announced the launch of a new mobile money transfer service in the Ivory Coast in conjunction with the MTN Group. The new service, which builds upon the existing mobile money collaboration between the companies in Uganda, llows consumers in Ivory Coast who use MTN's Mobile Money service to receive a Western Union money transfer transaction directly on their mobile phones. The new offering increases the breadth of Western Union's payout options in Ivory Coast. In addition to the new mobile service with MTN, consumers can receive funds at nearly 900 Western Union Agent locations throughout the country.
MTN, Bharti, Orange, Vodacom And Mobinil May Sell Mobile Tower Networks In Africa

MTN Group Limited (JSE:MTN), Bharti Airtel Limited (BSE:532454), Orange (ENXTPA:ORA), Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD) and Mobinil Telecommunications S.A.E. are working on selling mobile tower networks in Africa. MTN Group is on the verge of selling towers valued at $1 billion in Nigeria, and Bharti Airtel Africa is selling about 15,000 of its towers across 17 countries for $2 billion- $2.5 billion. Orange is looking at disposing of towers in sub-Saharan Africa and Egypt. According to TMT Finance, a shortlist of three bidders has reportedly been drawn up for MobiNil’s 2,500-3,000 Egyptian towers.
MTN Group Nears Deal to Sell Nigeria Tower Network to IHS

MTN Group Ltd. (MTN) is nearing a deal to sell its Nigerian mobile tower network, valued at more than $1 billion, to IHS Holding Ltd., according to three people with knowledge of the matter. An agreement to sell the business, which comprises about 11,000 towers, was expected to be signed within the next few weeks, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. An MTN Nigeria Communications Limited' s spokeswoman couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
