Morris Communications Company, LLC announced that it is restructuring the company to create a "digital-first" approach across its media divisions. Morris DigitalWorks and its newspaper division will merge into one division. The company named Mark Lane from The Florida Times-Union as vice president of sales and Bob Gilbert with Morris DigitalWorks as vice president of audience, both new positions. The company announced that Michael R. Romaner, president of Morris DigitalWorks, will become executive vice president of digital for the company.
Morris Communications Company, LLC announced Where(R) continues to celebrate 75 years of providing information to travelers around the globe by launching its first branded concession airport store. In conjunction with Pacific Gateway Concessions, Where(R) opened Where Traveler Books + More on Sept. 1 in Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). The 1,900-square-foot store is located in International Terminal E, IAH's newest airport terminal. Upon entering Where Traveler Books + More, customers will be greeted by an interactive, touch-screen panel with exclusive Where Traveler content. They can learn more about the brand in a unique, in-store, customer-only interaction. Where(R) plans to open Where Traveler Books + More in other major U.S. airports soon.
NIIT Technologies Limited announced a strategic partnership with Morris Communications Company, LLC. Through this partnership NIIT Technologies will provide integrated IT and business process outsourcing services to Morris communication for an aggregate of $85 million over five years. NIIT Technologies will have the controlling interest in the joint venture. Under the terms of the agreement, Morris will transfer to the joint venture its key assets including IT infrastructure, people and application landscape to the joint venture. With this facility, NIIT Technologies will be able to better address the growing technology outsourcing business in North America with a near shore facility.
