The Water Supplies Department of the Hong Kong SAR Selects Black & Veatch to Lead the Review of the TWM

The Water Supplies Department of the Hong Kong SAR (WSD) has selected Black & Veatch to lead the review of the TWM. With fresh water demand expected to increase from 933 million cubic meters (mcm) in 2013 to 1,100 mcm by 2030, the project will seek to update or create strategies that fine tune and improve the resilience of Hong Kong’s current water resources practices. Based on the initial study which was also led by Black & Veatch, progressive water management initiatives were introduced to strengthen Hong Kong’s water network. These included pressure management, district metering, grey water and rainwater harvesting. TWM also led to the feasibility study of a desalination plant at Tseung Kwan O that is expected to open by 2020.
North America Project Development, LLC Selects Black & Veatch as EPC Contractor for OCEC in Ohio

North America Project Development, LLC, or NAPD, has selected Black & Veatch, which is engaged in infrastructure development, as contractor for the engineering, procurement, construction, or EPC, and startup of the Oregon Clean Energy Center, or OCEC, in Oregon, Ohio. The natural gas combined cycle power plant is being developed by North America Project Development, LLC (NAPD). The 869 megawatt facility will provide electricity for growing manufacturing and residential use. It replaces generation from several aging coal-fired power plants in the region that are being retired. Construction is expected to begin in November 2014. The plant is expected to begin commercial operations by July 2017. More than 500 workers are expected to be at the project site during peak construction.
Black & Veatch to Provide Engineering Services for $1.3 Billion Fertilizer Plant Expansion

Black & Veatch is providing engineering and procurement services to Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC for two ammonia plant expansions as well as utility and infrastructure improvements as part of a $1.3 billion expansion of its Enid, Oklahoma facility. The project will increase urea and ammonia production at the facility by more than one million tons a year. Upon completion, the facility will be one of the large producers of fertilizer in North America. As part of the expansion project, Black & Veatch is also responsible for granular urea storage, loadout and water treatment upgrades, two new electric substations and power interconnections. The company is also responsible for overall project planning.
