Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC has announced that its SmarTire Tire PressureMonitoring System (TPMS) is now available to truck fleets through the network of Bendix OES and independent after market partners across North America. The company announced SmarTire monitors the pressure and temperature of each tire on a commercial vehicle to provide real-time tire status information to the driver or maintenance technician. Pressure and temperature information from inside the tire is communicated wirelessly to an on-board receiver, which forwards the information to an easy-to-read, multifunction, two-inch display installed on the vehicle dash, the company noted.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC unveiled its Wingman ACB (Active Cruise with Braking) safety system delivers warnings and proactive interventions to help drivers avoid collisions as well as data to help with fleet operations and driver training at the Mid-America Trucking Show. With cruise control on and speed set, Wingman ACB will warn and provide active interventions reducing throttle, engaging the engine retarder and, if necessary automatically applying the foundation brakes to help the driver maintain the intended following distance. Wingman ACB was designed to deliver driver-friendly adaptive cruise control technology with full vehicle and braking system integration. Information, warnings, and operation of the Wingman system is incorporated into the vehicle dash in direct view of the driver. Drivers activate the system using the existing cruise control switches in the vehicle, and receive information and warnings through the vehicle dash, so there are no extra distracting displays to look for when a warning sounds.

Eaton Corporation announced it has sold its VORAD ® (Vehicle On-Board Radar) system to Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, which is based in Elyria, Ohio. In connection with the transaction, Eaton's Road ranger Marketing organization has entered into an agreement with Bendix to continue to market and support the VORAD system in the North American marketplace.
