MEMSIC, Inc. Announces Availability of MXC400xXC

MEMSIC, Inc. announced the availability of its MXC400xXC, the world's first monolithic 3D accelerometer, and also the first 3D accelerometer to utilize WLP technology. The technology breakthrough in combining the 3D IC sensor with full WLP translates directly to a 60% reduction in cost and a 50% reduction in size, enabling a new generation of mobile consumer devices including phones, tablets, toys and wearable devices. The key to this breakthrough is MEMSIC's proprietary and patented thermal accelerometer technology, in which the MEMS sensor structure is etched directly into standard CMOS wafers, enabling the world's only CMOS monolithic solution. This technique uses thermal convection of heated gas molecules inside a sealed cavity to sense acceleration or inclination, and has been used for many years in MEMSIC's products for automotive stability control and rollover detection, digital cameras, projectors and many other applications. MEMSIC's designers have now taken the technology to a new level by combining 3D sensing with full WLP while keeping the same small size and low cost. The MXC400xXC offers a number of benefits to system designers of space- and cost-sensitive consumer devices. In addition to offering the world's lowest cost, the device provides 12-bit resolution on all three axes, programmable FSR of +/-2g/+/-4g/+/-8g, an 8-bit temperature output, plus orientation/shake detection. With a package size of 1.2 x 1.7 mm, board space is reduced by 50% over industry-standard 2x2 mm solutions. And like all MEMSIC thermal accelerometers, the MXC400xXC has no moving parts, making the sensor structure extremely robust to shock and vibration. This is critically important to wearable and many consumer applications.

MEMSIC Expands Portfolio of High-Performance IMU Solutions with the New 380-Series

MEMSIC Inc. announced at the Sensor's Expo in Chicago the availability of the first three products from its new 380-Series Inertial Systems family. The IMU380ZA-200 (6DOF IMU), IMU380ZA-400 (9DOF IMU) and AHRS380ZA (full 9DOF Attitude and Heading Reference System) are optimized for embedded applications, and utilize the latest generation of MEMS sensor technology to achieve new levels of price/performance. The 380-series is targeted at vehicle control and navigation, platform stabilization, robotics, mobile mapping, industrial control, unmanned vehicle control and avionics systems. MEMSIC's 380-series integrates next-generation MEMS sensing technology within a unique and flexible system architecture to achieve unmatched performance in a wide range of demanding as well cost sensitive applications. The 380-series offers customers the broadest selection of inertial product configurations on the market -- embedded (380ZA) for pc board mount, standalone (380SA) for remote mount, and rugged (380RA) for the most demanding environments. The IMU380ZA and AHRS380ZA are available in a small 24 x 37 x 9.5 mm module: and set the new standard for performance in this class of devices with bias instability < 10 deg/hr, angle random walk (ARW) < 0.75 deg/hr, fully calibrated performance over -40 to +85C temperature range, low power consumption < 250mW, and SPI and UART communications for close integration with customers' system electronics. MEMSIC offers a 380ZA evaluation kit including Nav-View software to support customers during their initial system integration with the embedded 380 models. Evaluation kits provide an out-of-the-box solution to demonstrate performance in the customer's application. MEMSIC, Inc. Announces Availability of MMC3524xPJ Three-Axis Magnetic Sensor

MEMSIC, Inc. announced the availability of its MMC3524xPJ Three-Axis Magnetic Sensor. This fully integrated device achieves a dramatic increase in performance over competing devices, particularly in the areas of stability over temperature and time, and insensitivity to external magnetic disturbance. In particular, the offset drift over temperature is <1.5mGauss, which is more than 100x better than the nearest competitor. Additionally, the device can withstand a magnetic disturbance of up to 100G without recalibration. This enhanced stability enables the elimination of the inconvenient and frequent "figure-8" user calibration, delivering a whole new user experience in mobile phones, tablets and wearable devices. The MMC3524xPJ uses MEMSIC's proprietary anisotropic magnetic resistive (AMR) technology to achieve its high performance. With a full scale range of +/- 24 Gauss (+/- 2400 Tesla), and an RMS noise of 2mGauss (0.2uT), the device offers a dynamic range 2x -- 5x greater than its competition. This results in a more accurate heading determination with less averaging. When combined with MEMSIC's proprietary algorithms, this enables a heading accuracy of <1 degree, a necessary requirement to enabling Location Based Services in mobile devices. Power consumption is also critical to mobile and wearable devices in order to extend battery life. At 50uA (10Hz rate), the MMC3524xPJ reduces current consumption by 5x compared with products, and is one of the few devices to run from a single 1.8V supply. In addition, the MMC3524xPJ offers a sleep current of 5nA (max), which is 1,000x lower than the competition. The MMC3524xPJ is offered in an industry-standard 1.6 mm. x 1.6 mm. x 0.5 mm package and operates from a single 1.8 V or Dual 1.8V /3V supplies, making it ideal for mobile applications such as electronic compassing in cellular phones and tablets, pedestrian navigation, gaming controls, wristwatches, in-vehicle GPS navigation, and other magnetic field measuring applications. The MEMSIC MMC3524xPJ Three-Axis Magnetic Sensor is priced at $0.35 each in 100k piece quantities and is available from stock.
