Presbyterian Health Services announced its plans for a full-service hospital in Rio Rancho due to be completed by fall 2010. The $200 million project, on 66 acres east of Unser Boulevard and north of Black Arroyo Boulevard, was built in response to population growth in Rio Rancho. Current plans are for a 340,000-square-foot hospital and a 113,000-square-foot medical office building. The buildings are being designed on a modular plan that will allow relatively easy expansion as it becomes necessary. The hospital and medical office building will be starting with a square footage roughly half that of Presbyterian Hospital. The Rio Rancho hospital will employ more than 500 people when it opens, rising to 1,200 by 2016. It will start life with 140 physicians, set to rise to more than 200 in six years.
