Reliance Globalcom announced the appointment of Mr. William (Bill) Barney as CEO of its three offshore businesses, comprising FLAG, Yipes and Vaneo. A veteran of the telecommunications industry, Mr. Barney's career spans more than 15 years in Asia. During his 10-year tenure as CEO of Pacnet, Mr. Barney led the company's successful acquisition of regional ISP, Pacific Internet, which operationaHy merged with Asia Netcom and re-launched as Pacnet in January 2008. Prior to Pacnet, Mr. Barney served as Asia Pacific President and CEO for MCI Worldcom (Verizon) where he led the company through a three-digit growth phase. Mr. Barney's appointment is effective immediately, and he will operate out of Hong Kong and Mumbai.
