The British United Provident Association Limited and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen Spólka Akcyjna have expressed interest in acquiring EMC Instytut Medyczny S.A., sources close to the talks said. EMC, Bupa and PZU declined to comment.

For the year, the company announced net insurance premiums earned of GBP 6,663.6 million compared to GBP 6,345.5 million for the same period a year ago. Total revenues were GBP 8,373.9 million compared to GBP 8,018.1 million for the same period a year ago. Profit before financial income and expenses was GBP 528.8 million compared to GBP 199.5 million for the same period a year ago. Profit before taxation expense was GBP 583.6 million compared to GBP 220.0 million for the same period a year ago. Profit for the financial year was GBP 448.7 million compared to GBP 135.9 million for the same period a year ago. Profit attributable to equity holders of the company was GBP 438.2 million compared to GBP 131.1 million for the same period a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was GBP 742.9 million compared to GBP 515.5 million for the same period a year ago. Purchase of intangible assets was GBP 67.6 million compared to GBP 63.9 million for the same period a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was GBP 178.0 million compared to GBP 147.2 million for the same period a year ago. Underlying profit before taxation was up 8% to GBP 604.0 million.
