TPDDL With Viego Bids For Benin

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) formed two separate consortiums to bid for three power distribution companies (discoms) in Nigeria. Vivek Singla, Senior General Manager of TPDDL said that TPDDL formed a consortium with Viego Holding Limited to place a bid to acquire Benin Electricity Distribution Plc. Singla told PTI, "Both the consortiums have qualified for all three discoms. The total investment in three discoms has been estimated at around $900 million. If our consortiums win the bid, then TPDDL will be the first Indian discom to operate in a foreign country. The winner of the bid will be announced on October 16, 2012. Singla added that TPDDL has the option to acquire up to 51% stake in the consortiums over a period of time. The companies that cleared the technical qualification round include Honeywell International Inc., Integrated Energy Distribution And Marketing Limited, West Power and Gas Limited, Rensmart Power Limited and Rockson Engineering Company Limited.

Four Companies Qualified For Benin Disco

Southern Electricity Distribution Company, Rensmart Power Limited, Vigeo Power Consortium and Rockson Engineering Company Limited are prequalified to have their financial bids opened for Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (Benin Disco) privatized by Power Holding Company of Nigeria. The National Council on Privatization, in a meeting presided over by its Chairman and Vice President, Namadi Sambo, approved the companies eligibility for the exercise billed to be hold on October 10, 2012.

Benin Attracts 7 Bids

Benin Electricity Distribution Plc has attracted seven bids in its privatization. One of the bidders is Rockson Engineering Company Limited. The company is being privatized by Power Holding Company of Nigeria. The last date to submit the bids was July 31, 2012. As per Bureau of Public Enterprises, the deal is expected to be concluded in the last quarter of 2012. "The announcement of the preferred bidders for the generating companies is October 9, 2012 while October 23, 2012 is the date for the announcement of the preferred bidders for the distribution companies," the Bureau added.
