Monaco Telecom Signs Agreement with SSI-Monaco to Provide Ground Support Services

Monaco Telecom has signed an agreement with Space Systems International Monaco to provide ground support for its new satellite telecommunications services business. SSI-Monaco will be launching the MonacoSat satellite at the end of 2014. The flexibility and capacity of MonacoSat will allow it to provide services in countries within the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Europe. MT will be providing infrastructure and services using the company's satellite ground station. This will enable SSI-Monaco to provide services including internet and HD TV. MT's connectivity agreements with major telecoms 'carriers' and access to the Europe India Gateway submarine cable will enable countries served by the satellite to also develop social telecoms services like telemedicine, online education etc. connected with any country in Europe, Africa or America. Countries utilising MonacoSat will safeguard data using MT's datacentre hosting facilities in the Principality. Martin Peronnet, Managing Director of Monaco Telecom. Cable & Wireless Intends To Buy Back Stake In Monaco Telecom

Cable & Wireless Communications Plc (LSE:CWC) announced that it is reviewing its options in Monaco after the sale of its stake in Société Anonyme Monégasque Monaco Telecom to Bahrain Telecommunications Company BSC (BAX:BATELCO). Cable & Wireless stated that will buy back a quarter of its 55% stake in Monaco Telecom that was divested to Batelco. Cable & Wireless's outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Tony Rice told Dow Jones Newswires that Cable & Wireless is still happy to be operating in Monaco in the short term because "the business is performing well," but said the Monaco business doesn't fit with the company's long-term strategy to grow in the Caribbean and Latin American region.

Level 3 Communications, Inc. and Monaco Telecom have announced the signing of a strategic agreement that will connect the Principality of Monaco to Level 3's global internet backbone network. The signing of this agreement will reportedly enable Level 3 to operate a point of presence (PoP) in Monaco and enable Monaco Telecom's enterprise customers to use the Level 3 global network to link all of their sites both within the Principality and across the world in a secure and scalable manner without connection speed limitations. According to Level 3, its redundant infrastructures will be connected in the Principality with direct access to the EIG (Europe India Gateway) submarine cable. This cable, which was deployed in Monegasque territorial waters in October 2009, connects Europe to India, via the Middle East, with access to East Africa.
