ICL Performance Products LP Key Developments
ICL Performance Products reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company’s sales for the first quarter of 2013 totaled $357 million, representing 20.4% of total revenues (before offsets of inter-segment sales), a 4% increase compared with $343 million for the first quarter of 2012. The increase reflects higher quantities sold offset partially by a decline in prices. The company’s operating income for the quarter totaled $35 million, a 13% decrease compared with $40 million in the first quarter of 2012. This reflected primarily an increase in operating expenses and the decreased selling prices, offset partially by a decline in the price of raw materials and energy.
ICL Performance Products LP and BK Giulini GmbH with previously separate sales and marketing groups within ICL PP in North America, have combined to form the new North American food division ICL Food Specialties. The new division will share with customers a legacy of experience across all applications within the food industry. It also will provide a portfolio of products that offer customers new ingredients and technologies to solve challenging product development opportunities. ICL Food Specialties will focus on trend inspired food and beverage applications as well as the continued development of new technology, such as Licresse(TM), launched this summer under ICL Performance Products. It also will provide innovative and functional prototypes for customers through unique application development tools available at the technology center in Webster Groves, Mo.

The company's operating income for the quarter totaled $48 million, a decrease compared with $66 million in the second quarter of 2011 but up 20% compared with the first quarter of 2012. For the six months, the company reported sales of $721.7 million and operating income of $88.0 million against sales of $758.4 million and operating income of $113.1 million for the same period a year ago.
