Caribou Coffee Company, Inc. Key Developments
Caribou Coffee Company, Inc. announced the introduction of four Lite Sparkling Teas and Juices made with real fruit and tea and featuring half the amount of calories. The new delicious and refreshing lite drinks, available in four flavors -- Green Tea Lemonade, Peach Black Tea, Lemon Ginger Pomegranate and the limited-time, Apple Raspberry -- are meant to be enjoyed by fans as they relish all that summer has to offer. Caribou fans can enjoy the new Lite Sparkling Teas and Juices at their local Caribou coffeehouse starting May 13, 2013. A great deal of time and effort went into the development of these beverages to ensure they are as delicious as the original Sparkling Teas and Juices that Caribou guests have been enjoying, but with half the calories. These new beverages pair perfectly with one of the coffeehouse's fresh-out-of-the-oven breakfast sandwiches on the way to work or the beach, and can be savored as a refreshing afternoon treat on a hot summer day. Green Tea Lemonade -- A balanced blend of healthy green tea and sweet lemonade. Peach Black Tea -- Sweet peach married with the bold flavor of black tea. Lemon Ginger Pomegranate -- A blend of tart lemon and sweet pomegranate balanced with the essence of ginger. Apple Raspberry -- Two simple flavors come together to make a light but refreshing summer drink.
Caribou Coffee announced that the company would close dozens of stores and convert dozens more to Peet's Coffee & Tea locations over the next 12 to 18 months. All Michigan locations will be affected.
Caribou Coffee Company Inc. announced plans to close 80 stores while converting another 88 into the Peet's Coffee & Tea brand. The closings and conversions hit an eight-state area, including Ohio, plus Washington D.C. The company did not respond to requests for comment, but employees at the five Columbus-area shops confirmed each's fate. The Caribou Coffees at 3080 Tremont Road in Upper Arlington, 6745 Avery-Muirfield Drive in Dublin, and 8719 Owenfield Drive in Powell will close, while the six other operations - on Lane Avenue, in Clintonville, near Gahanna, at Polaris, in Heath and in the Huntington Bank building downtown - all will be turned into Peet's. The changes will leave Caribou with 468 coffee shops internationally and in an eight-state footprint concentrated on the Great Plains states and North Carolina.
