Reliance Communications Ltd. (BSE:532712) (RCom) is planning to sell stake in Reliance Infratel Limited. According to the news report, the talks of Anil Ambani owned RCom with private equity firms, to sell Reliance Infratel was also not materialized. RCom was looking for a valuation of INR 150 billion – INR 200 billion for its 95% stake in Reliance Infratel.

Reliance Communications Ltd. (BSE:532712) reportedly may sell Reliance Infratel Limited after made a deal to get assured revenues from Reliance Jio. “If one were to go by the valuation, Reliance Infratel could claim a value between INR 25,000 crore and INR 30,000 crore based on the current valuation of Bharti Infratel, which is roughly the same size as the Reliance unit. We could sell a stake if we want to improve the financials,” said an RCom executive on conditions of anonymity. According to industry sources, Reliance was seeking a valuation of around INR 20,000 crore for its tower unit, which the private equity firms felt was too high. Reliance Infratel, which has about 50,000 towers, could now engage in a fresh round of discussions with investors in a bid to retire its INR 35,000-crore debt.
Infotel Broadband May Reportedly Acquire Stake In Reliance Infratel

Infotel Broadband Services Limited of Reliance Industries Limited may reportedly acquire stake in Reliance Infratel Limited from Reliance Communications Ltd. (RCOM), sources said. According to two people close to the ongoing negotiations said the deal had two components which includes a leasing arrangement valued at INR 8.5 billion to INR 10 billion over a 10-year period and second component includes Infotel Broadband to acquire 15% to 25% in Reliance Infratel. The stake sale is being negotiated at an enterprise value of $3.5 billion to $4 billion. The final agreement have not been reached and the people close to the deal said. One of the two said a contract could be inked in February 2013. Detailed emails sent to both Reliance Industries and Reliance Communications seeking comment on the structure of the deal did not elicit any response by Economic Times. The shares of RCOM fell 9% to INR 80.
