Unigen Corporation Announces Unique Embedded USB (eUSB Plus) Solutions
Aug 13 13
Unigen Corporation has announced application specific USB modules in 16GB and higher densities for embedded, networking and industrial applications. These products are designed around a Multi-Format Flash Media Controller which allows read/write capability to eMMC providing a reliable high density media to store code and data. The eMMC integrates MLC NAND Flash and a controller in a single package. The MLC NAND Flash may be programmed fully or partially to SLC mode by the controller, allowing the SLC partition to be used for caching and firmware storage. SLC mode provides a high reliability and higher speed storage medium, improving overall system performance. This unique eUSB Plus architecture supports other flash media families such as SD, xD, and MS and is a drop-in replacement to industry standard eUSBs. This provides the system designer with flexibility and protection from obsolescence. The eUSB Plus operates on a 3.3V power supply and is compliant with USB 2.0/3.0, It features high performance throughput of 20MB/s Read, and 10MB/s Write, with low active power consumption of < 50mA. It has wide operating system (OS) support which includes Windows XP/2000/NT/Me/98/98SE, VISTA, Mac OS 9.x and above, Linux Kernel 2.4 and above.
Unigen Corporation Announces Family of Rugged Solid State Drives
May 23 13
Unigen Corporation has announced a family of Rugged SSDs designed for embedded industrial applications, networking switches and routers, automotive, medical and communication equipment. The Rugged SSDs are available in 1.8" and 2.5" form factors, with SATA II and SATA III interfaces, and in densities of 60/100/120/200/240/400/480/512GB. The SSDs are tested to meet MIL-STD-810 Shock & Vibration, Low Temperature and Thermal Shock. All BGA components on the SSDs are treated with epoxy based underfill. The drives may be individually customized with optional features such as type of NAND Flash (SLC/eMLC/MLC), components that meet either commercial or industrial temperature ranges, data encryption, and power loss protection. Features such as Secure Erase, Sanitize, Self-Encrypt and Decrypt are also offered upon customer request. SSDs are optionally treated with conformal coating to MIL-I-46058C, or encapsulated for superior thermal and corrosion protection. Unigen's patented EnduraCharge(TM) technology, deployed on some drives prevents corruption or data loss in the event of an unintentional power interrupt. This technology totally eliminates unscheduled downtime for drive reformatting and reinstalling system OS.
Unigen Corporation Announces New Unigen Endura Technology, Which Has Advantages of Single-Level Cell Flash But at Lower Cost
Aug 21 12
Unigen Corporation announced its new Unigen Endura(TM) technology, which has advantages of single-level cell (SLC) flash but at a lower cost. Until now, MLC drives have been limited to about 5,000 program/erase cycles. For applications requiring a high number of continuous writes, designers have been using SLC flash, which can cost up to three times higher than MLC. Flash drives using Unigen Endura(TM) offer as many as 50,000 program/erase cycles using MLC flash. Unigen Endura(TM) technology also supports SMART commands, enabling designers to query the drive for health monitoring of the product. By monitoring the drive, the host device and applications software can perform proactive housekeeping functions before problems arise and avoid system downtime. This will be a huge advantage to IT professionals.
