The%20shareholders%20of%20Standard%20Chartered%20plc%20%28LSE%3ASTAN%29%20authorized%20a%20share%20repurchase%20program%20at%20its%20Annual%20General%20Meeting%20on%20May%208%2C%202013.%20Under%20the%20program%2C%20Standard%20Chartered%20will%20repurchase%20241%2C734%2C701%20shares%2C%20which%20represents%209.99%25%20of%20the%20issued%20share%20capital.%20The%20minimum%20price%20per%20ordinary%20share%20will%20be%20%240.5%2C%20its%20nominal%20value%20or%20the%20equivalent%20in%20the%20currency%20in%20which%20the%20purchase%20is%20made%2C%20calculated%20by%20reference%20to%20a%20spot%20exchange%20rate%20for%20the%20purchase%20of%20US%20dollars%20with%20such%20other%20currency%20as%20displayed%20on%20the%20appropriate%20page%20of%20the%20Reuters%20screen%20on%20the%20business%20day%20before%20the%20day%20the%20company%20agrees%20to%20buy%20the%20shares.%20The%20maximum%20price%20which%20may%20be%20paid%20for%20any%20ordinary%20share%20shall%20be%20equal%20to%20the%20amount%20105%25%20of%20the%20average%20of%20the%20closing%20price%20of%20the%20company%27s%20ordinary%20shares%20as%20derived%20from%20the%20London%20Stock%20Exchange%20Daily%20Official%20List%20for%20the%20five%20business%20days%20immediately%20preceding%20the%20day%20on%20which%20such%20share%20is%20contracted%20to%20be%20purchased.%20The%20Company%20may%20sell%20the%20shares%20repurchased%20for%20cash%2C%20transfer%20these%20shares%20for%20the%20purposes%20of%20or%20pursuant%20to%20an%20employee%20share%20scheme%2C%20cancel%20these%20shares%20or%20continue%20to%20hold%20them%20in%20treasury.%20The%20directors%20believe%20that%20it%20is%20in%20the%20best%20interests%20of%20the%20company%20and%20all%20of%20its%20shareholders%20to%20have%20a%20general%20authority%20for%20the%20Company%20to%20buy%20back%20its%20ordinary%20shares%20in%20the%20market%20The%20share%20repurchase%20program%20will%20expire%20at%20the%20conclusion%20of%20the%20next%20Annual%20General%20Meeting%20of%20the%20company%2C%20or%20August%207%2C%202014%2C%20whichever%20is%20earlier%2C%20unless%20previously%20renewed%2C%20varied%20or%20revoked%20by%20the%20company%20in%20a%20general%20meeting.%20As%20of%20May%208%2C%202013%2C%20the%20company%20has%202%2C419%2C002%2C104%20shares%20in%20issue.%20

Standard%20Chartered%20PLC%20%28LSE%3ASTAN%29%20agreed%20to%20acquire%20custody%20and%20trustee%20business%20in%20South%20Africa%20from%20Absa%20Group%20Limited%20%28JSE%3AASA%29%20on%20April%2018%2C%202013.%20The%20transaction%20is%20subject%20to%20regulatory%20approvals%20and%20other%20customary%20conditions.%20The%20transaction%20is%20expected%20to%20complete%20after%20second%20half%20of%202013.
