Asustek Computer is looking to list amongst the top-three notebook vendor in 2011 through acquisitions. Commercial Times reported citing Jonney Shih, Asustek Computer’s Chairman that, Toshiba's notebook business has been identified as one of the company's possible targets. Asustek has already had a contact with Toshiba, but the Chairman added that results are not yet finalized.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. announced that it plans to enter Brazil's laptop market. The firm will start marketing its Unlimited laptop line this January. The company said the mid-line UL80V model will be one of the first available. The models will be produced in Asus' São Paulo factory. The company expects its Brazilian operations to increase 25% this year.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. reported earnings results for the third quarter of 2009. Earnings per share were TWD 1.5 during the period, whereas those of its market counterpart, Acer, were TWD 1.28. However, the firm's operating revenue fell more than 14% from a year earlier to TWD 67.1 billion due to a decrease in the prices of PCs, especially netbooks.
