ASML Holding N.V., through its subsidiaries, engages in the design, manufacture, market, and service of semiconductor processing equipment used in the fabrication of integrated circuits. It offers a portfolio of lithography systems for manufacturing semiconductors, integrated circuits, or chips. The companys PAS 5500 product family comprises wafer steppers, and step and scan systems suitable for i-line and ultra violet processing of wafers. It also provides immersion technologies and TWINSCAN, a dual-stage design system that allows wafer measurement, including focus and alignment on the dry stage; and imaging process using water between the wafer and the lens on the wet stage. In addition, the company manufactures computational lithography products used for the implementation of optical proximity correction to design data and verification before mask manufacture. It operates in the Netherlands, the United States, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, and Israel. The company, formerly known as ASM Lithography Holding N.V., was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

This substantial order increase does not factor in a full worldwide economic recovery, which, if it materializes, could sustain the first half sales level into the second half of fiscal 2010.

ASML Holding NV announced that the Supervisory Board intends to appoint Frederic Schneider-Maunoury as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer to the board of management, subject to notification of the general meeting of shareholders which is scheduled to be held on March 24, 2010. Mr. Schneider-Maunoury is currently Vice President Thermal Products Manufacturing at Alstom. He will join the company on January 1, 2010. He held various positions at the French Ministry of Trade and Industry before he joined Alstom in 1996.
