Bharti Airtel Limited, together with its subsidiaries, provides telecommunication services in India. The company operates in five segments: Mobile Services, Telemedia Services, Enterprise Services Carriers, Enterprise Services Corporate, and Passive Infrastructure Services. The Mobile Services segment offers mobile services using global system for mobile communications (GSM) technology. It offers post-paid, pre-paid, roaming, and value added services through its 23 telecom circles. The Telemedia Services segment offers services through wire-line connectivity to the subscriber, as well as broadband Internet. The Enterprise Services Carriers segment offers domestic and international long distance services to the service providers of cellular or fixed line services. The Enterprise Services Corporate provides integrated telecommunications services, such as mobile services, telemedia services, and national and international long distance and data connectivity services to corporate, and small and medium scale enterprises. The Passive Infrastructure Services segment engages in setting up, operating, and maintaining wireless communication towers; providing network development services; and operating video, voice, data, and Internet transmission business in and out of India. The company also engages in the sale of VSAT and Internet equipment (hardware) and related accessories to subscribers; and the provision of satellite services. It offers its products and services under the brand Airtel. Bharti Airtel Limited has strategic alliances with SingTel and Cisco Systems, Inc. The company was formerly known as Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited and changed its name to Bharti Airtel Limited in April 2006. Bharti Airtel Limited was founded in 1995 and is based in New Delhi, India.

Bharti Airtel Ltd. reported earnings results for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009. The company posted a dip in quarterly profits for the first time with a decline of 7.8% in net profit at INR 23,210 million compared to INR 25,170 million in the first quarter. On a yearly basis, profit grew at a slower rate at 13%.
Nivio announced it has joined hands with Bharti Airtel Ltd. to launch low-cost desktops priced at INR 3,000 ($65) by the end of this month. The product will be available by the end of this month.
Sunil Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Airtel Ltd. said that the firm is not actively seeking acquisitions after its $23 billion planned tie-up with MTN collapsed. “Hopefully sometime soon,” Mr. Mittal said, replying to a question whether the company was looking at new buys. He added, “We are taking a break.”
