Club Mediterranee Defers Sale Of Building

The management of Club Mediterranee said at the end of the last week it was forced to abandon the sale of buildings within its Cap Skirring resort in Senegal, because of a fire. Club Med was in talks to sell the resort to Caisse de Depot et de Gestion Group.

Club Mediterranee Reports Revenue Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended July 31, 2009

Club Mediterranee reported revenue results for the third quarter and nine months ended July 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company's revenue was down 6.8% to €315 million from €360 million in the previous-year period. This represented a decline of 12.5% as reported and 14% like-for-like. For the nine months, the company's revenues declined by 6.8% to €1,034 million from €1,109 million in the prior-year period. Like-for-like (i.e. excluding the currency effect and revenue generated by sale of villas beginning in second-quarter 2009), revenue for the period declined by 7.2%.

Club Mediterranee Announces Director Changes

Club Mediterranee expanded its board of directors. Two new directors were co-opted and two non-voting directors were appointed at the board's meeting on July 23, 2009 which was chaired by Henri Giscard d'Estaing. Anass Houir Alami, chief executive officer of Morocco's Caisse depot et de Gestion (CDG), has replaced Mustapha Bakkoury as director. Anass Houir Alami was appointed chief executive officer of Morocco after serving as chief executive officer of Barid Al-Maghrib since 2006. He began his career with the brokerage firm Upline Securities, and became the group's chief executive officer in 2001. Jacques Lenormand, chief operating officer of Credit Agricole, has replaced Aimery Langlois-Meurinne as director. Jacques Lenormand began his career with the French Ministry of Education before joining Monod La Henin bank in 1974. He joined Credit Agricole in 1978 and held various positions before being appointed Central Manager for retail and professional clients in 1987. He became deputy managing director in charge of financial services at La Poste in 1991 and later held the positions of managing director of MMA and director of development, France at Credit Agricole. Amine Benhalima, director and CEO of Fipar Holding and Gerard Pluvinet, founder and chairman of the management board of 21 Centrale Partners, have joined the board as non-voting directors. Amine Benhalima began his career with Royal Air Maroc in 1995 before becoming deputy director in charge of capital markets at CFG Group in 1998.
