(CTI) and its subsidiaries engage in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and support of software, systems, and related services for multimedia communication and information processing applications. The company operates in three segments: Comverse Network Systems, Service Enabling Signaling Software, and Security and Business Intelligence Recording. Comverse Network Systems segment provides telecommunications software, systems, and related services to telecommunications service providers that enable voice and data value-added enhanced services and billing of communication services. These services comprise call completion and call management solutions; advanced messaging solutions for groups, communities, and person-to-person communication; solutions and enablers for the management and delivery of data and content-based services; and billing and account management solutions for service environments. Service Enabling Signaling Software segment includes global roaming, voice and text messaging, prepaid calling, and emergency-911 services. These products are also embedded in a range of packet softswitching products to interoperate voice and data networks, and facilitate services, such as voice-over-IP, hosted IP telephony, and virtual private networks. Security and Business Intelligence Recording segment provides analytic software-based solutions for communications interception, networked video security, and contact centers. The company's products are used in a range of applications by wireless and wireline telecommunications network operators and service providers; call centers; and other government, public, and commercial organizations. CTI markets its systems through its own direct sales force, as well as local distributors, and in cooperation with international vendors of telecommunications infrastructure equipment. The company was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in New York City.

Comverse Technology Inc. has enabled Cherry, the mobile brand of service provider Mondial Telecom, to launch voice services in Belgium by using fixed-mobile converged (FMC), dual cellular/WiFi technology. When subscribing to Cherry's mobile service, customers receive a dual-mode mobile handset that operates over WiFi within its coverage zone and switches seamlessly to GSM technology when leaving the WiFi coverage zone. This communication between GSM and VoIP over WiFi is made possible by Comverse Netcentrex IP Communications. Deployed as a Software as a Service (SaaS) service model at the Comverse Netcentrex hosting center, this has allowed Cherry to launch service in the Belgium market without a mobile infrastructure. As a Mobile Virtual Network Operator, Cherry also does not have its own licensed frequency allocation of radio spectrum.
On November 6, 2009, Comverse Inc. entered into a Separation and Release Agreement providing for the termination of employment by mutual agreement of Urban Gillstrom, senior vice president of Comverse Technology Inc. and president, Global Sales of Comverse Inc., effective November 11, 2009.
