Country Road Ltd. reported sales results for the first 17 weeks to October 24, 2009. The company announced total sales for the first 17 weeks of trade were 10.8% higher than the corresponding period of the prior year. Sales in standalone retail stores were up 18.4% on last year and sales in department store concession outlets were up 2.7%. The company has continued its expansion strategy with 4 new stores, Riccarton (NZ), Whitford City (W A), Frankston (VIC) and South Wharf DFO (VIC), al opened since July. One more new store will be launched in this 2009 financial year in Harbour Town, Adelaide. In addition to this the key refurbishments and expansions of Chatswood Chase, Canber a, Spencer Street and Pacific Fair will take place. On September 3, Trenery launched in 5 stores, Karrinyup (W A), Chatswood (NSW), Bondi (NSW), Highpoint (VIC) and Canberra (ACT). One further Trenery store will open this year on November 12 in Chadstone (VIC).

Country Road Ltd. reported earnings results for the year ended June 30, 2009. For the quarter, EBITD of AUD 41.1 million and EBIT of AUD 32.6 million compared to EBITD of AUD 32.7 million and EBIT of AUD 24.4 million for the previous year. Pre tax profit was AUD 21.9 million compared to AUD 14.0 million for the previous year. Operating cash flow was AUD 32.8 million compared to AUD million for the previous year. Return on equity was 20.9% and return on assets of 11.0% compared to return on equity of 13.9% and return on assets of 9.0% for the previous year.

Country Road Ltd. reported earnings results for the year ended June 30, 2009. For the period, the company's operating profit rose 56.2% to $21.89 million from $14.01 million. Basic earnings per share were 22.66 cents, up from 14.13 cents. Mr. Moir has given the company notice of his resignation with effect from December 31 2009. He will remain on the board as a non-executive director and take over from Mr. Simon Susman as CEO of Woolworths Holdings in November 2010. A comprehensive search is under way to find Mr. Moir's replacement at Country Road. Should a suitable replacement not be found by the time of Mr. Moir's departure, Mr. Glenn Gilzean, group general manager of Retail and an executive director, will assume the position of interim CEO.
