D.R. Horton, Inc. operates as a homebuilding company in the United States. The company’s homebuilding business engages in the acquisition and development of land for residential purposes, and construction and sale of residential homes. It builds traditional single-family detached homes and attached homes, such as town homes, duplexes, triplexes, and condominiums. D.R. Horton constructs and sells homes in 27 states and 77 metropolitan markets in the United States under the name ‘D.R. Horton, America’s Builder’. It markets and sells homes through commissioned employees and independent real estate brokers. The company‘s financial services business offers mortgage financing and title agency services to homebuyers, as well as provides title insurance policies, examination, and closing services primarily to purchasers of homes. D.R. Horton originates, packages, and sells mortgage loans and their servicing rights to third-party investors, after origination on a limited recourse provisions. The company was founded in 1978 and is based in Fort Worth, Texas.
