Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 2009. For the quarter, the company's net profit amounted to TWD 18.3 billion, up 2.7% year on year. Un-consolidated business revenues slid 10.5% to TWD 385.84 billion from TWD 431.21 billion a year earlier. For the nine months, the company posted a net profit of TWD 46.68 billion, representing a 1.9% increase from TWD 45.83 billion a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share rose to TWD 5.40 from TWD 5.32 in the same period of last year.

Hon Hai Group plans to open 10,000 chain outlets in the Mainland China in the coming two to three years with an estimated investment of NTD 10 billion, in an attempt to march into the Chinese mainland 3C (communication, computer and consumer electronics) and home appliance retail market. The company will seek operation expansion in the Chinese mainland via Cyber Mart.

Hon Hai Group will join hands with Metro Group. The two sides will set up a 50-50 joint venture under the brand of Media Market in the eastern Chinese metropolis of Shanghai, according to a memorandum of understanding (MOU) the partners entered into previously.
