Royal KPN N.V., through its subsidiaries, provides telecommunications, and information, communication, and technology (ICT) services primarily in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the Americas. It operates through Infrastructure Services, ICT Services, and Corporate Solutions segments. The Infrastructure Services segment offers voice wireline services, which include fixed-line telephony access services over analog lines, digital lines, and Internet protocol (IP)-based connectivity; wireless services, such as mobile communications solutions; mobile voice, data, and Internet services under the KPN brand; wireless e-mail solutions and mobile Internet cards; and data/network services, including data communication services, such as leased lines and broadband transmission services, as well as networks services, such as IP-virtual private network (VPN), Ethernet VPN, and Internet access services. The ICT Services segment designs, delivers, integrates, services, and manages voice and data communication solutions at customer premises, such as PBX and local area networks; outsourcing solutions for telecommunications operations and infrastructure of companies; online application services for small and medium enterprises; and ICT, housing, business continuity, and SAP hosting services. The Corporate Solutions segment provides a portfolio of integrated ICT and outsourcing services for integrated data, voice, mobile, and workspace management. As of December 31, 2008, it served approximately 31 million customers in wireless services, 5 million customers in wireline voice, 2.5 million wireless customers in broadband Internet, 0.8 million customers in TV, and 3,000 business customers. Royal KPN N.V. was founded in 1989 and is based in Hague, the Netherlands.

KPN To Reportedly Divest Belgian Assets

Royal KPN NV is looking at divesting its business-customer unit and fiber network in Belgium, daily De Tijd reported quoting several unidentified industry sources. The report stated that KPN denied commenting on the issue. De Tijd reported that the company has shortlisted potential buyers. Sources stated that Telenet Holding NV and COLT Telecom Group SA are potential suitors for the assets. The report added that Belgacom was not keen to acquire the assets.

KPN reported earnings results for the third quarter of 2009. For the quarter, the company reported net profit of EUR 395 million ($589 million) reflected a 13% fall in costs, largely due to more than 2,000 job cuts since the beginning of the year. Sales were down 8.8% at EUR 3.33 billion, in part reflecting asset sales. The company stood by its forecasts for 2009 and 2010, with sales between EUR 13.6 billion and EUR 13.8 billion.

Royal KPN NV reported earnings results for the third quarter of 2009. For the quarter, the company reported a 14% rise in net profit as it cut costs and demand for its basic services was steady amid the downturn. Net profit was EUR 398 million ($593 million), up from EUR 349 million in the same period a year ago. Sales fell 5% to EUR 3.33 billion, due to the disposal of a consulting arm that didn't make much money. The company provided dividend guidance for the year 2010. The company said it is expected to meet all financial targets including a dividend increase to EUR 0.80 per share in the year 2010, from EUR 0.60 in 2008.
