Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Miyazaki Prefecture have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a zero-emission partnership. The zero-emission partnership will reportedly initiate a joint-study to implement all the necessary conditions for the mass introduction of electric vehicles. The partnership will study the potential to implement electric vehicle (EV) trial amongst the residential community, and monitor the progress and acceptance of EVs. The partnership will also focus on developing a charging system that utilizes electricity generated from renewable solar energy and develop the necessary infrastructure for charging stations. Nissan has said that it will introduce the Leaf electric car in Japan, the US and Europe in 2010 followed by global mass marketing in 2012.
Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. has updated its European-version of the GT-R sports car. The model features modified front spring and damper rates and larger radius rod bushings, altered electronic braking distribution, double clear coat paint on the bumpers, and interiors with gauges in a new gunmetal finish and more insulation added to the rear seat area. The engine of the vehicle is Euro 5 emissions compliant.
