The Financial Times group provides financial news, data, comments, and analysis in print and online formats. Its product lines include Financial Times newspaper; FT.com, a business information Web site; financial magazines and online services; and Mergermarket, which delivers data to businesses and financial institutions. The Penguin group publishes approximately 4,000 fiction and non fiction books under the brand names, including Hamish Hamilton, Putnam, Berkley, Dorling Kindersley, Puffin, and Ladybird. The company was founded in 1844 and is based in London, the United Kingdom.

Pearson plc reported earnings results for the first nine months of 2009. The company announced that it performed in line with expectations in the first nine months of the year, with sales up 2% at constant exchange rates and operating profit up 3%. The company reported a 14% drop in revenue for its FT Publishing unit, which was hit by a downturn in advertising sales for the newspaper and The Economist weekly magazine. Penguin sales were down 4%, while Pearson's international education unit was its best performer, with a 10% gain in revenue. The company now expects full year adjusted earnings to be at or above 60% per share, based on current exchange rates.
Pearson announced the launch Pearson Test of English Academic(PTE), company's new computer-based academic test of English language proficiency. The test, which would be available next month, measures the English language skills of non-native English speakers, who are seeking admission to institutions where English is the language of instruction. Pearson has chosen Chennai to be the Pilot Centre for the test in India and the first test would be delivered on November two. The company proposed to open 15 test centers in the country.
Pearson plc announced that they will report first half, 2010 results on July 26, 2010.
