Siemens AG Wins Contract for Construction of Converter Stations

Siemens AG won the principal contract for the construction of Pole Three of the high voltage direct current inter-island link for electricity grid operator Transpower. The entire Pole Three project is worth up to $672 million and involves replacing Pole One equipment at Haywards substation north of Wellington and Benmore substation in the South Island. The contract with Siemens is the largest in the Pole Three project and is more than half of the work to be completed. Siemens will construct the converter stations at each end of the link, expand switchyards at both substations and build the new voltage support equipment at Haywards. Ltd.

Deutsche Bank, Siemens and ABB Announce the Formation of Joint Venture

Companies including Deutsche Bank AG, Siemens AG and ABB Ltd. announced the formation of a joint venture they hope will build a massive solar energy system in North Africa and the Middle East that could satisfy 15% of Europe's electricity demand by 2050. The new company, called Dll GmbH, also appointed Paul van Son, a former energy company executive to the post of chief executive. Dll will be headquartered in Munich.
