Sony Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the development, design, manufacture, and sale of electronic equipment, instruments, and devices for consumer and industrial markets in Japan, the United States, Europe, and internationally. The company's products include audio and video equipment, liquid crystal display televisions, personal computers, monitors, semiconductors, components, mobile phones, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. It develops, produces, markets, and distributes home-use game consoles and software, such as PlayStation2, PlayStation Portable, and PLAYSTATION 3 hardware and related software. Sony Corporation also engages in the development, production, manufacture, marketing, distribution, and broadcasting of image-based software, including film, video, and television products. In addition, the company involves in motion picture, television, and home entertainment production, acquisition, and distribution; digital content creation and distribution; channel investments; studio facilities operation; entertainment products, services, and technologies development; and filmed entertainment distribution. Further, it engages in various financial service operations, such as insurance, banking, and leasing and credit financing. Additionally, Sony Corporation operates a network service business, an animation production and marketing business, and an advertising agency business. The company also operates a domestic recorded music business that produces recorded music and music videos through contracts with various artists in various musical genres; music publishing business to own and acquire rights to musical compositions; and So-net, an Internet-related service business. The company was formerly known as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha and changed its name to Sony Corporation in January 1958. Sony Corporation was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Sony Corporation Appoints David Kaminow as President of Worldwide Strategic Marketing

David Kaminow has been appointed to the newly created position of president of worldwide strategic marketing at Sony Corporation. Kaminow will continue to oversee all worldwide theatrical market research for the studio and will play a key role in establishing a worldwide marketing platform for all divisions of the department. He will also work on film brand management and franchise evaluation for the worldwide marketing group and reports to Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing president Marc Weinstock. During his tenure with the studio, Kaminow has overseen research and helped develop marketing strategy on such films as This Is It, Spider-Man 2 and 3, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Julie & Julia, Hancock, Hitch, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs.

Sony Corporation Expands its Line of Ultra-High-Resolution 4K SXRD Projectors

Sony Corporation has expanded its line of ultra-high-resolution 4K SXRD projectors with a new model that provides 8.8 million pixels at more than 20,000 lumens-the highest brightness to date of any Sony projector. The new SRX-T420 projector is designed to deliver enhanced performance and flexibility in large-venue commercial applications such as entertainment, auditorium/lecture-hall presentations, virtual reality, and simulation. The new model incorporates the same 4,096x2,160 resolution as its successful SXRD counter parts with many similar design and control elements for user-friendliness. However, in addition to its high brightness, it delivers an enhanced contrast ratio of 3,000:1, as well as a range of new improvements in performance, interface capability, control software, and installation capabilities.
